Semiconductor Laser Diode Test Equipment.
Black Box Technologies was
hired for this long-term project to develop multiple test station capability
for the characterization, life-test, and burn-in of semiconductor laser
diodes. We provided the custom built hardware to drive these diodes with
clean, stable, and safe constant current.
These are high power lasers
and require several amps of current for single devices and tens of amps
for laser arrays. These driver electronics and associated computer interface
electronics all conform to the ANSI Standard for Laser Safety. Each test
system adheres to strict interlock and control functionality. The life-test
and burn-in stations were designed for 24-hour operation to control each
laser independent of the others in constant current or constant power
modes. Power, current, and voltage data is taken in user defined time
increments, stored, displayed, and analyzed for any degradation.
